Life as a Student-Athlete

Being a student-athlete has given me excellent time management skills, organization skills, and the ability to work well with others. Participating at the Division I level while managing my school work has taught me great work ethic, as well as prioritizing my time. I have learned leadership skills as well as perseverance. Being a student-athlete has provided me with well-rounded experiences and has taught me life-long lessons, such as: the importance of my education, how to cooperate with different kinds of people, to keep working hard even after failing at something, & how to manage many priorities at once. A student-athlete at UNC is held at a high standard and represents the entire university. This has developed me into a self-motivated, hard working, and passionate young woman. I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to play softball at the highest of levels, along with getting a degree in my passion of Dietetics. My experiences of being a student-athlete have positively impacted my life, molded me into the person I am, and have driven me into my career choice of becoming a Registered Dietitian.

SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee) :

I am a member of SAAC at University of Northern Colorado. I serve as a liaison between athletic administrators and student-athletes. I represent our softball team and keep athletes involved and informed on current issues. The meetings hold discussions consisting of NCAA rules and regulations, issues involving student-athletes across the nation, organizing of events to incorporate athletes into the community, and addressing concerns or comments from the student-athletes. SAAC is the voice of the student-athlete's around the country.
